Whole House Filters

Whole House Filters are available that will deliver clean water to all of your home and garden.  Remember in selecting a whole house filter that it is the contact time of water with filter media that determines how much filtering you get.  So more filter material means more filtration - as long as you have the right filter media.

For municipal systems, you need to know if you municipal supplier is using chlorine or chloramines to disinfect.  With that you can know what your good options are.  If you have chloramines in your water, you need plenty of filter material and it needs to select for chloramines.

The primary risk of fluoride is from ingestion, which is different than chlorine and chloramines.  We suggest that you add a fluoride-removing filter at the kitchen.  Whole house fluoride removing filters are available.  But either they are too costly for the benefit, or they won't remove much fluoride.

Friendsofwater.com has whole house filters that last up to 500,000 gallons, and really do the job for that long.  There are less expensive alternatives that will also do a great job, but that won't last as long.
